Despite many believing otherwise, not everyone’s poop smells of roses. Scented oil was introduced to prevent vacuum pumps emitting the smell of their contents.
Rotary Vane vacuum pumps need oil to lubricate bearings and vanes in their daily operation. The better the oil the better your pump works. Don’t recycle vacuum pump oil or use old sump oil. It is contaminated and will cause just as much damage as not using any oil!
Generally speaking, vacuum/pressure oilers use air pressure to feed lubricating oil into the vacuum pump. These oilers consist of an oil reservoir tank, an air pressure line, an oil feed line, sight feed valves and oil delivery lines. They function by using the pressure differential at the endplate. The oil is drawn through the sight feed valves and then into the vane pump by vacuum. It then passes through the bearings and disperses over the rotor, lubricating
the vanes, rotor and housing.
Unlike other products, VTS scented oil is high temperature rated so it won’t smoke at lower temperatures. The cherry scent of VTS oil is emitted through the oil catch muffler as the oil heats up in the vacuum pump. Our oil is also mono-weight and non-synthetic so it doesn’tstick to the pump’s rotor.
